The Pines Weddings & Events second barn inspired wedding venue Pines Black opened in 2022. Located near Fargo, ND on a rural farm property, Pines Black embraces the agricultural roots of North Dakota featuring black grain bins and an upscale, elegant wedding venue experience.
Grain Designs worked in collaboration with Rhet Architecture from the conceptual design phase on the building’s vision. Epic Built (formerly Epic Homes) of Fargo, ND executed the build from start to finish with touches by Grain Designs along the way.
Our work within the building includes 45 solid wood folding event tables crafted from white ash with custom made industrial metal folding table bases. Sixteen modern sliding barn doors were built throughout the building with black shiplap and white shiplap finishes. Light wood ash is used as an accent in the venue including: paneling wall features, entry focal walls, countertops, bar tops, and even a fully custom bar and golf simulator surround.
The site of the wedding venue was once home to the Kennedy Bonanza Farm featuring a 120’x120′ draft horse barn. The bar in Pines Black was named “The 120 Barn” paying homage to the property’s history. Pines Black also features an indoor wedding ceremony area, connected bridal preparation suites, and an extensive outdoor patio for entertaining event guests! The Pines original venue, Pines White also features wood folding events tables, sliding doors, and more from Grain Designs.

This project for Kava construction mixes reclaimed wood sourced from the Grain Elevator Elevator in Superior, WI with industrial metals and solid hardwoods for a comprehensive office design. Inspiration is drawn from the agricultural elevator industry while materials were chosen to compliment the robust materials used by Kava Construction. These custom desks, and conference table were designed, built and delivered locally near Fargo, ND!
