The Pines Wedding and Events (The Pines) completed its construction and opened for business in the fall of 2018. The venue, located in Davenport, N.D., features 8,900 square feet of space for events. The site also features an outdoor wedding ceremony space and an original farmhouse complete with an in-ground swimming pool. Since opening, The Pines has been named the 2019 and 2020 “Best Wedding Venue” by InForum’s “Best of the Red River Valley,” an annual community-voted award given to the area’s top businesses and services.
“Opening The Pines has been incredibly rewarding for us,” says Blain Mikkonen, one of the event venue and Grain Designs owners. “As designers, it’s allowed us to do what we love – create a space where people love to gather and celebrate.”
In the time since it was built and opened, the building has hosted over 175 weddings and events. Next month The Pines will break ground for its second event venue called Pines Black.
“It’s been overwhelmingly positive seeing so many people use our space for their weddings and events. It’s been popular enough that we haven’t been able to accommodate everyone due to already scheduled events,” says Grant Koenig, another owner of the venue and Grain Designs. “The grounds have a ton of extra space that we want to see used, so we decided it’s time for another venue.”
Pines Black will feature almost double the space of its current venue, now named Pines White. Pines Black will be located between the farmstead’s original grain bins and will feature 13,300 square feet of space, including an indoor ceremony space, reception hall, and lounge complete with a golf simulator and pool table.
“This addition to our property and the local wedding industry is so exciting,” says Emily Finley, the Event Manager at The Pines. “Now offering two, unique gathering options, we can better serve clients and accommodate the demand for a Pines wedding.”
Currently, the primary Pines White ceremony space on the property is outdoors. “The indoor ceremony site at Pines Black, as well as the attached lounge and prep spaces, will greatly enhance the opportunity for year-round events,” says Finley.
Pines White and Black are both accepting reservations. Pines Black is set to open in the spring of 2022 and has started booking dates for June 1, 2022 and beyond. Learn more about The Pines at ThePinesVenue.com.
